Dakota Fanning stepped out of her hotel solo in NYC on Thursday. The 17-year-old actress is reportedly starting college in the city this Fall, though she's yet to reveal which university she'll be attending. Still, she and her mom are getting better acquainted with Manhattan while Dakota is between movie projects. As a recent high school graduate, Dakota is ready to grow up, starting with her controversial Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola! fragrance ads that some say are too suggestive for the under-18 actress. Dakota is still a very scandal-free star compared to some of her contemporaries, and she's a good role model for her younger sister Elle, who is breaking into the big time thanks in part to her role in box office hit Super 8.
